The “7 summits” refer to the highest mountain on each continent. Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua are both non-technical climbs. The Carstensz pyramid is a moderate difficulty rock climb. All the others are technical peaks. Generally, the order of ascents are Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Elbrus, Denali, Vinson, and Everest. Carstensz can be done in between any of them, provided one has sufficient rock climbing skills. (Kosciuszko is the highest peak on Australia, and is considered the “8th seventh summit”).
To date, 230 people have climbed all 7 summits.
The summits are, in no particular order:
Africa: Mt. Kilimanjaro – 5895m
North America: Denali – 6194m
South America: Aconcagua – 6962m
Europe: Elbrus – 5642m
Oceania: Carstensz – 4884m
Antarctica: Vinson – 4897m
Asia: Everest – 8850m
